Tara West, Campaign Manager
Tara West is a recent graduate of the Great Lakes Political Academy, which was just the opportunity she needed to change careers from marketing to politics. She has been working with Elizabeth Welch since she launched her campaign in December 2019. Tara lives in Grand Rapids with her husband and 6 year-old son. She’s passionate about political action as a way to improve people’s lives and the health of our planet. After the election she plans to run, sleep, catch up with friends, and spend some quality time with her family, which may or may not involve a camper and some wilderness.
Kai Paige, Deputy Campaign Manager
Kai Paige is a mother, homeowner, wife, daughter, tax payer, and voter in our great state of Michigan. She chose to work on Elizabeth Welch’s campaign because she wanted to help bridge the gap in our justice system that so many have lost faith in. Her previous experience includes roles in both corporate America and politics. Kai loves home decor; on any given day, she can get lost in Home Goods or found with a full cart at Wayfair. Home renovations or yard work is something she finds to be peaceful. After the election, she looks forward to working out again everyday, catching up on sleep, and maybe taking a staycation with her family.
Hannah Katz, Finance Director
Hannah Katz is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan with majors in International Studies and Political Science. She has previously worked as an Organizer for the Michigan Democratic Party and in 2018, worked on the campaign of Michigan Supreme Court Justice Megan Cavanagh. While in college, she served as Field Director and Membership Director for the College Democrats at the University of Michigan. She also has experience working for a national PAC in Washington DC. Hannah is from Farmington Hills, Michigan but now resides in Grand Rapids. In her spare time Hannah likes to draw, paint, and cook. She is an avid collector of stickers.
Interns & Volunteers
We also couldn’t do what we do without our incredible team of interns and volunteers, also primarily women! These talented individuals are involved behind the scenes in everything from donor research to communications and field efforts. The women (and few men) of the Welch for Justice campaign are working tirelessly to come out with a win in November!
